Our Upcoming Pre-professional Techniques for the Stage with AEA Actor/Director/Choreographer Christie Robinson will explore the demands of stagecraft, technically from the educational perspective of process. We will work techniques individually in a masterclass setting with music of the students' choosing and as a group, we will work the "Mamma Who Bore Me" Reprise from Spring Awakening.

Burns Music Studio Student Voice Recitals will be on June 17th and 18th at 7:00PM in Minsky Recital Hall at the University of Maine in Orono. Phil and I are really looking forward to joining mechanical engineer, Qian Xue for a presentation on the science of the voice. Join us for this presentation on the inner workings of the voice, voice disorders, and 3D modeling of the muscles of phonation. Phil and I will be presenting on articulatory aspects of tension in the vocal mechanism, the acoustic differences in an operatic tone verses the broadway belt and how to maximize resonance and minimize impact on the tissues of the vocal folds.
Tina and Christie are teaming up for this dynamic offering! Choreography through the decades and musical theatre vocal technique. This is an 8 week class series for ages 14 and up. It is $80.00 for the session. We meet 7:00-8:30 at the Robinson Ballet 107 Union Street downtown Bangor starting this Thursday the 14th.
Burns Music Studio will be hosting a masterclass with Laura Hodos! Laura stars in Penobscot Theatre Company's current production of "Honky Tonk Laundry" and was 'Patsy Cline' in the company's production of "Always Patsy Cline." Burns Music Studio Musical Theatre Voice Class starts on Saturday January 26th at 4:30. It is a 10 week session (see website calendar for dates) and is $120.00 for the session. Let us know if you have any questions. No experience necessary! You do not have to be in the voice studios to join. this is for everyone!
The class focuses on the basics of healthy singing technique and storytelling through music. Students play confidence building games, sing together as a group and also have the opportunity to work on individual songs in a workshop setting.
Burns Music Studio had a wonderful time supporting the students of Penobscot Theatre Company's Dramatic Academy in their scholarship fundraiser showcase. Phil and Harry were the band and these talented teens knocked it out of the park!

AUDITIONS FOR MAMMA MIA Penobscot Theatre Company to hold auditions for upcoming production
Bangor, ME - Penobscot Theatre Company will hold auditions for its upcoming production of MAMMA MIA on Saturday, January 19, from 10-1pm. Auditions will be at the Bangor Opera House, 131 Main Street, Bangor, ME 04401. The company is looking to cast the following roles: Lisa, Pepper, Eddie, Bill Austin and Sam Carmichael as well as ensemble parts. Adult AEA and Non-AEA actors, both new and returning to Penobscot Theatre Company are encouraged to attend. All roles are paid. Housing available as needed.
Those wishing to audition should prepare 32 bars of a rock ballad. Actors should bring a picture, resume and sheet music to their audition. An accompanist will be provided. Performers may also be asked to learn a short dance combination. Please dress appropriately.
Amiee Turner whose Broadway credits include 42nd Street, The Will Rogers Follies, My Favorite Year and The Goodbye Girl, will direct and choreograph.Rehearsals for MAMMA MIA will begin on May 14. Performances will run from June 13 to July 14, 2019.
